CBF’s Cancer Patient Ally program provides one-on-one, patient-centered, cancer support by trained volunteers across Eastern Maine. Each Ally is equipped with resources, experience, and a passion to help. Are you seeking someone to communicate with over the phone, join you at doctor appointments/treatment, or to help navigate resources in your region? Allies give each patient a chance to ask personal questions and express his or her worries and frustrations to, while receiving encouragement and support from, someone who is familiar with the challenges that patients face. If you are interested in requesting or becoming an Ally, please, learn more and complete the request form below.

Give Support – Become a Patient Ally

Patient Allies are recruited from all over Eastern Maine to provide support, empathy, and understanding to a cancer patient or someone entering survivorship. For many, it is comforting to talk to someone who has been there.
All Allies, through the request form, complete a profile for themselves outlining demographic information, cancer experience, and passion to become an Ally. This information is kept confidential and is only shared with the person you agree to support.
All Allies work with CBF staff to become trained and equipped with resources and tools to be the best Ally for those seeking help. Once trained, you will remain in the database and contacted as patients are matched with you.
Please, register online by clicking Become An Ally below or call us at (207) 517-0256.

Get Support – Request a Patient Ally

Through a matching process, CBF partners with trained volunteers across Eastern Maine to pair you with a Patient Ally. These one-on-one relationships are meant to offer hope, guidance, and empower patients undergoing treatment or entering survivorship. Patient Allies are familiar with the experiences you are going through and are here to help.
The service is 100% free and helps patients touched by any type of cancer, at any cancer stage, of any age, living across Eastern Maine.
Please, register online by clicking Request An Ally below or call us at (207) 517-0256. All information is kept confidential and only shared with your matched Ally.
