Equivalent Meals Provided
Through each grocery package, lean proteins, fresh produce, grains, and a variety of items are provided to patients with cancer.
Towns Reached
Through weekly deliveries across eastern Maine and CBF pick up sites at oncology clinics, the CBF team is dedicated to equitable access to nutrition assistance.
Volunteer Hours/Week
Dozens of volunteers make this program available to the eastern Maine cancer community.

The Christine B. Foundation believes no patient with cancer, or their family, should be unable to access nutrient-rich foods.

Each grocery item provided through this no-cost nutrition assistance service seeks to improve health outcomes for active cancer patients and offer nutritional and financial relief for recent survivors and their families.

Assistance Frequently Asked Questions (click):

Am I eligible to receive a Grocery Package?
The CBF mission is geared towards helping those affected by cancer in Eastern Maine (Piscataquis, Penobscot, Hancock, and Washington County). If you are an active cancer patient, someone entering survivorship (up to 18 months after last treatment), or have either living in your household, you are eligible to request support.
What is in each Grocery Package?
*Items may vary based on donated goods. Each package includes groceries for 3-6 days with fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, soups, and other items, following USDA’s My Plate recommendations. (bread, pasta, pasta sauce, eggs, meat, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, canned fruit/vegetables, soups, beans, granola bars, apple sauces, juices, peanut butter, crackers, dessert items, Ensure, almond milk, and more)
How long will it take to receive a Grocery Package after my request?
CBF has continued to receive requests for support at a rate high rate, resulting in a waitlist for home delivery. When visiting a pick up site, grocery packages will be offered during your visit.
