The Christine B. Foundation Unanimously Votes In New Board Secretary

Alison Barkley, Retired Senior US Diplomat, Will Become The Foundation’s Board Secretary

Bangor, Maine (4/12/2021) The Christine B. Foundation voted to have Alison Barkley, a local Beaver Cove resident and member of the Christine B. Foundation’s Board of Directors as the board’s secretary. In this role, Barkley will maintain CBF contracts, meeting minutes, and scheduling.

“I’ve seen many family members and friends affected by cancer,” said Barkley. “This small, family foundation has welcomed me as a volunteer and I feel a real part of a team of wonderful people who are interested in their volunteers’ ideas and use my skills and energy to great effect. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to add value to my world. The foundation finds imaginative ways to use individuals’ energy and skills. It’s a boutique volunteer experience, and it’s very fulfilling,” said Barkley.

Alison Barkley brings a 25-year career as a U.S. diplomat to CBF as Board Secretary. She retired at the equivalent rank of a two-star general. She is currently the program manager of the Artisan Village in Greenville, Maine, and is a volunteer for the Christine B. Foundation and the Eastern Area Agency on Aging. Alison resides in Beaver Cove on Moosehead Lake with a second home in Bangor.

“Alison brings a tremendous wealth of knowledge and compassion to the CBF mission, from day to day activities now to the secretary role on the board of directors. The entire CBF community welcomes her and I personally am thrilled to have her vision and leadership supporting our cancer community.” Matt Dexter, Founder of CBF, stated.
