The Christine B. Foundation Votes In New Board President
Rob Smith, Local Glenburn Resident, Will Lead The Foundation as Board President
Bangor, Maine (3/5/2021) The Christine B. Foundation has unanimously voted to have Rob Smith, a local Glenburn resident and member of the Christine B. Foundation’s Board of Directors as the board’s new president. In this role, Smith will oversee goal setting, executive committee, organizational evaluation, and sustainability efforts for CBF mission.
“Every chapter for CBF is defined by our community’s voice. Rob embodies CBF’s values consistently through board functions and during day-to-day volunteering. I am honored to have his skillset and vision guiding CBF, and our community, towards a stronger and more connected cancer support landscape in eastern Maine,” Matt Dexter, Founder of CBF, stated.
Rob Smith is a father of two teenage children who attend Bangor High School. He is a financial advisor with Edward Jones after spending 15 years as a chemical engineer servicing the pulp and paper industry. Rob also serves on the Board of Directors for Amicus here in Bangor. Smith hopes to achieve a few items as the new president of the CBF Board which include:
- Continue to build upon CBF’s mission and momentum from 2020 to serve the communities affected by cancer in Eastern Maine.
- Network throughout Eastern Maine to expand the organization’s presence.
“The Christine B Foundation has done amazingly positive deeds for those impacted by cancer. Now having the opportunity to help spread that mission of helping these communities is truly my privilege,” said Smith.

The Christine B. Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, that was founded by Matt Dexter, son of Christine B who passed away from cancer in 2008. The organization began as Eastern Trek for Cancer, Inc. in 2014 as a solo-fundraising event and not long after inception was renamed to Christine B. Foundation, Inc. to offer more comprehensive services.
