Celebrating Our 2025 Christine B.’s Award Recipients

Each year, Christine B.’s mission is carried forward by individuals and partners who show up—consistently, compassionately, and with deep commitment to people facing cancer across Maine. In 2025, we are honored to recognize three extraordinary award recipients whose service, leadership, and heart exemplify what it means to answer the Christine B. call to action.

Volunteer of the Year: Colleen Dodge

This award is provided to an individual or group from the 150 volunteer workforce who reflects the best of CBF, the values of our programs and mission and has demonstrated continued commitment to service.

Since April 2023, Colleen Dodge has been a steady and caring presence for Christine B.’s patients across the Bangor region, particularly in Washington County. As a home delivery volunteer, Colleen completes one of the most crucial steps in our nutrition program: ensuring that food reaches patients who often live in rural, hard-to-reach parts of Maine.

Colleen meets people where they are—quite literally—greeting patients at their own doorways, offering a moment of connection along with essential nourishment. She coordinates with fellow volunteers, picks up food, and ensures deliveries are completed reliably and with warmth. Week after week, she contributes more than 10 hours of service, and in 2025 alone, Colleen generously offered over 500 hours of her time.

Her commitment goes far beyond logistics. Colleen brings dignity, kindness, and human connection to every delivery, reminding patients that they are seen and supported. We are deeply grateful for her dedication and proud to honor her as our 2025 Volunteer of the Year.

Colleen joins a celebrated group of past recipients, including Rebecca Dauphinee (2024), The Briggs Family (2023), Dan Bahr (2022), and Brian Ross (2021)

Community Partner of the Year: Maine Savings Federal Credit Union

We provide this award to a community partner who demonstrates the highest values of service, teamwork, and commitment to delivering CBF's cancer support across eastern Maine. A partner who reflects the values of CBF and goes above and beyond to ensure their community affected by cancer can access local care through their journey.

For years, Maine Savings Federal Credit Union has been an invaluable partner to Christine B., combining financial investment with hands-on service in ways that are truly unique and that strengthen our mission. In 2025, that partnership reached new heights.

Maine Savings teams from multiple departments and branches participated in service days at Christine B.’s fulfillment site, supporting operations that directly impact patients. Most notably, when CBF identified a critical need within partner hospitals, Maine Savings stepped forward with an innovative solution—recruiting, training, and providing four staff members to volunteer (during normal business hours) directly in cancer care settings. These volunteers met patients on some of the most vulnerable days of their cancer treatment journey, offering presence, compassion, and support.

This deep commitment is reflected in leadership as well. Lee-Anne Storen of Maine Savings serves on Christine B.’s Board of Directors, further strengthening the alignment between our organizations.

The Maine Savings team has embraced the Christine B. call to action with grace and excitement, investing in every step of our work—from fulfillment to hospital partnerships. We are honored to recognize Maine Savings Federal Credit Union as our 2025 Community Partner of the Year.

Maine Savings joins a strong list of past recipients, including: Downeast Community Partners (2024 and 2021), Machias Savings Bank Lincoln Branch (2023), and Good Shepherd Food Bank (2022).

Health Care Partner of the Year: Becky Caron

This is an award we provide to a health care partner(s) that believes in the highest standards of cancer care. A partner who reflects the values of the CBF program's mission and has demonstrated continued commitment to bridge hospital and community services to benefit patient health outcomes.

Becky Caron has been a steadfast supporter of Christine B. since 2018, first connecting with the organization at a fundraiser attended by her daughter. From that moment on, Becky brought her unique, outgoing, and energetic spirit to every opportunity to serve.

As an oncology nurse at a partner hospital, Becky is known for always centering patient voices and for her guiding belief that the person comes first—no matter what. Her calm, warm presence has made a lasting impact on patients navigating treatment, whether at the bedside or throughout their broader care journey.

Becky served on Christine B.’s Board of Directors for six years, terming off in early 2025. Even then, her leadership did not slow. She immediately ignited new energy within the Events Committee, leading teams of volunteers through event planning across the region to ensure Christine B.’s voice reaches patients, hospitals, and communities far beyond our walls.

From governance to hands-on volunteering, Becky has supported nearly every aspect of the organization. Her compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment make her a truly deserving recipient of our 2025 Health Care Partner of the Year award.

Becky joins a compassionate list of previous recipients, including Kate Desmarais, Northern Light Mayo Hospital (2024), Social Work + Patient Access Services, Northern Light Cancer Care (2023), Dr. Elizabeth Dennis, Northern Light Cancer Care (2022), and Community/Oncology Staff, Northern Light Mayo Hospital (2021)

With Gratitude

Colleen Dodge, Maine Savings Federal Credit Union, and Becky Caron each represent the very best of Christine B.’s community. Their service reminds us that meaningful impact is created through consistency, collaboration, and care. We are profoundly thankful for their contributions and proud to celebrate them as our 2025 award recipients.
