2026 Mid-Year Impact Report

We are deeply committed to keeping our promises to Maine’s cancer community and generous supporters like you.

For many, these promises and relationships often start on day one of someone's cancer treatment, when a member of the Christine B. team greets them in the hospital with a little bit of hope. Here is what that looks like.

During the first half of 2026, we provided:

  • 700 home-delivered medically tailored grocery packages

  • 917 hospital-based Produce Prescription pickups

  • 42 oncology dietitian counseling sessions

  • 1,648 nutrition support encounters, reaching 960 individuals in 384 households

This year also marked an exciting milestone as we expanded our nutrition services into Southern Maine alongside a new hospital partner and growing CBF volunteer base.

But, here is where these numbers really become tangible. For the past two years, CBF has distributed$10,000 annually in emergency financial assistance, helping patients pay for essentials that keep them connected to care when fixed incomes become strained by medical costs &/or job loss occurs due to treatment demands.

In 2025, we received 98 applications—a 60% increase over the previous year—with requests totaling $47,760. Applicants reported an average household income of just$26,042, and 81% said their cancer diagnosis had negatively impacted their financial stability. The most common requests were for food (77%), housing (50%), transportation (50%), and medical expenses (48%). Our 2026 application is opening shortly.

Every meal delivered, every nutrition appointment provided, and every dollar of assistance awarded reflects your commitment to ensuring no one faces cancer alone. That is a promise we strive to keep as we continue into the second half of 2026.

With gratitude,

The CBF Team

P.S. We've recently made several improvements to our Darling's Auto Fulfillment Site in Bangor. We'd love the opportunity to show you your impact firsthand—please don't hesitate to reach out and schedule a visit.
